I suspect this one will be all about resting players for the Palace game and anything we get is just a bonus. Shame that maybe a home game especially against a wounded animal is sacrificed for two away ones, but I could see the logic. Liverpool are a fucking weird team this season. We could beat them if they turn out like for half their games, or they could give us a pasting like Man U or Leeds.

i hear you, but do we want to rinse the same 12-13 players again this season like we did last season?
That's why the wheels fell off so dramatically, and it's also why we have a squad. You can't have the same players go two games a week, week in week out. It's not sustainable these days.
What's the point in flogging the likes of Rice and Paqueta etc. now when there is an opportunity to rest as we're all but safe, if they are fucking knackered come the Alkmaar games?

Play our strongest team or near to it against Liverpool & Palace (Rotate 2 or 3 at most) and see if we can get the 4 points that will most likely see us safe.
Then we can really rotate and rest players against Man City & Man Utd so we are relatively fresh for AZ Alkmaar.
It has to be noted that we have 4 games coming up before we play the first leg while Alkmaar only have one to play so it would be really beneficial if we can get ourselves safe after the Palace game to rest some players like Rice, Zouma, Coufal, Paqueta & Antonio.

We are playing ourselves back into form….the players are finally looking like they are enjoying themselves….the only game I would rest them is the Man City game as they run everyone ragged….I think there is more to come from them….our season has just started effectively….

Either/or. I reckon if it's the case, he'll decide which game is more 'winnable', which I reckon will be Palace in his mind, and focus on that but we shall see.
I don't care that much which, as long as we're as best prepared as we possibly can be for Alkmaar.
Unlike some, I really think there's no real danger in the league now after yesterday so just put all the focus on winning that trophy now. If that means sacrificing the odd league match, I know that leaves a bad taste in some people's mouths, but I'm ok with it.

Even if there is no real danger in the league, I feel the best chance we have of winning the ECL is to be playing well and we've been shit for so long I don't want to see a disjointed team selection and a confidence sapping loss... It was just a few short games ago our confidence was shit. Let's build on it, not go back to square one.

Yup, agree we want to be playing well then, but I'm not convinced that means the players should be playing 7 games in 26 days prior to it. Not suggesting wholesale changes for the sake of it, but the likes of Rice, Paqueta, Bowen, Antonio, Soucek (can't imagine too many objections about that last one) etc who we really lean on game in game out really do need a bit of rest.
Lots of ways to cut a cake though.
